Dtrace is your friend.  I'd recommend reading enough of the source for
the drivers of interest so that you find out what the "interesting"
parts are, and then use dtrace to explore how the system behaves.

And, no, it's not really much like Linux at all.  It runs on the same
hardware, so you'll see drivers for the same devices, but the similarity
stops there.  :-/
