Hi all,

Following exhaustive attempts to get my Intel Pro/1000 PT network card working with
OpenSolaris b134 (the whole saga has been recorded here:

finally admitted defeat.

I would therefore like to hear recommendations for a solid, single-port Gigabit
ethernet adapter that has been proven to work, no ifs or buts.

My existing adapter was working perfectly until I upgraded from Nexenta 2.0
(b104) to Nexenta 3 Beta 2 (b134). I tried Beta 3 today with no success. I have
also checked the hardware by booting a Live Linux CD - network performance was
perfect

Many thanks,

The e1000g should work well, but you're not the first person to complain about them recently. Seems some recent changes to the driver have resulted in problems.

You could probably try a realtek rtls8169 based NIC. (There are dozens of models on the market, and I can't keep up with all them.) They're dirt cheap, super simple, and generally quite reliable.

I'd avoid Marvell based NICs... that driver isn't as mature, and in my experience the hardware has been more iffy. (Disclaimer: I did the original port of the FreeBSD marvell driver to create yge.)
