I'd say the resolver should be fixed to not do this anymore: it should
only try to resolve the next name in its list after an explicit NXDOMAIN
reply or an error, but not when the given name in fact exists, but
simply doesn't have the requested type of record.

Besides that, I'd love to be able to configure the resolver to not use
-any- search domains (not even the default domain), and to only use
search domains for names with at most n dots. (the current "ndots"
option doesn't quite do this)
