OK - I missed this. Thanks or the hint.
I now installed fping, but it doesn't allow me to flood the link:
-p 0 doesn't work at all and 0 < p < 20 produces:

fping: these options are too risky for mere mortals.

I know that you have to know what you're doing  - in fact; I'm actually
trying to saturate a link for testing the maximum bandwidth available.
How do I get the Opensolaris fping to let me?

Before you start - yes, I tried iperf, but I couldn't saturate the link
with iperf - not even with udp. Not sure, why this didn't work, but ping
-f from a linux system did the trick though.
