I'm using Fedora 10 with latest NetworkManager updates with the keyfile plugin enabled in nm-system-settings.conf. I've successfully enabled wifi connections that work for all users. When I define an OpenVPN connection for the local user using nm-applet, I can successfully connect to my VPN. However, if I tick the "available to all users" option and try the same previously working connection, NetworkManager fails to connect with the following error:

Mar 27 14:28:22 localhost NetworkManager: <info> Starting VPN service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.openvpn'... Mar 27 14:28:22 localhost NetworkManager: <info> VPN service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.openvpn' started (org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.openvpn), PID 2608 Mar 27 14:28:22 localhost NetworkManager: <info> VPN service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.openvpn' just appeared, activating connections Mar 27 14:28:22 localhost NetworkManager: <info> VPN plugin state changed: 3 Mar 27 14:28:22 localhost NetworkManager: <info> VPN connection 'VPN connection 1' (Connect) reply received. Mar 27 14:28:22 localhost NetworkManager: <WARN> nm_vpn_connection_connect_cb(): VPN connection 'VPN connection 1' failed to connect: 'No VPN secrets!'. Mar 27 14:28:22 localhost NetworkManager: <WARN> connection_state_changed(): Could not process the request because no VPN connection was active.

The resulting system connection file is as follows.

/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/VPN connection 1:

[connection]
id=VPN connection 1
uuid=7c2b85f0-adf5-45a7-b474-776c8d4dc54d
type=vpn
autoconnect=true
timestamp=1232481514

[vpn]
service-type=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.openvpn
comp-lzo=yes
remote=10.10.10.10
cert=/etc/openvpn/client.crt
key=/etc/openvpn/client.key
connection-type=tls
ca=/etc/openvpn/ca.crt

[ipv4]
method=auto
ignore-auto-routes=false
ignore-auto-dns=false
never-default=true

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael.
