When you say "stopped working", do you mean that it could not
successfully complete the connection, or that it is no longer recognized
by NM, or that it hangs at some point after connection, or...?

What model of 3G modem?  Can you provide the 'lsusb' output (ie, the
device identifiers) for it?

If NM does see the modem, you can:

1) stop NetworkManager
2) as root, run:
NM_SERIAL_DEBUG=1 NM_PPP_DEBUG=1 /usr/sbin/NetworkManager --no-daemon"
3) and try to connect and trigger the problem
4) capture the output from that NetworkManager run, and reply to this
list with it
