Do you have instructions anywhere for how to set up pptp using Network Manager on OpenSuse 11.0. I looked at the Network Manager web page but didn't see any detailed info there. The only thing was this, which isn't much help: "Simply install the NetworkManager VPN plugin your site uses, and pre-load the user's machines with the VPN's settings. The first time they connect, the user will be asked for their passwords."
According to Yast, Point-to-point tunneling protocol (PPTP) client is installed. I've tried the following without success (not sure what's supposed to go in each spot): -Rt click "Network Manager" icon and select "Edit Connections" -Select VPN from tab -click "Add" -Enter connection name -Don't know what to do with "Connect automatically" and "System Setting"? -Does "Connect automatically" mean it will connect each time I start my computer or what? -What does clicking "System Setting" do? -"Method": Is this the method used in the LAN I'm connecting to? Assuming that, I leave it at DHCP. --Addresses: I add the public address for the Watchguard Firebox that manages the LAN at the target location and the Netmask and Gateway for the DSL modem. Is this right? -I leave DNS Servers and Search Domains blank. -The former because with DHCP that shouldn't be necessary, I think. -The latter because I don't know (and don't see any documentation) what it's for. -I then click "OK" and nothing happens--the connection does not appear in the "Network Connections" dialog where I was trying to add the connection. Thanks. _______________________________________________ NetworkManager-list mailing list NetworkManager-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/networkmanager-list
