I believe that in Redhat 5.2 (and thus Mandrake) that vfat and msdos are
compiled as kernel modules.  So the probelm is that support for vfat and
msdos aren't compiled into the kernel.  However, the modules SHOULD be
automatically loaded when requested.   Try looking for error messages with
"cat /var/log/dmesg."

However, you should be able to load the modules manually.  Try the
commands:
"insmod vfat
 insmod msdos"
and let us know what happens.

What sound card do you have?  If its a Soundblaster, it should be easy,
just run "sndconfig."  If its not, then its a little harder.
