Hey Ralph, I know your pain.
I have a Diamond Speedstar A50 to and let's just say that you can't exactly
just use that standard SiS6326 settings that are provided with the XServer.
I played with mine for two weeks until I finally got it right (with the
help of a mailing list member.) Here is what you have to do (this is
compliments of Steve Philp. He just helped me out with this the other
day.) Edit your XF86Config File in your /etc/X11 and change your video card
section by removing all lines in between the section and endsection line.
You then need to put the following lines in that section. Here is what it
should look like when you are finished.
Section "Device"
Identifier "Diamond Speedstar A50"
VendorName "Diamond"
BoardName "Speestar A50"
Chipset "sis6326"
Option "no_bitblt"
Option "sw_cursor"
DacSpeed 175
Option "edo_vram"
VideoRam 8192
EndSection
Make sure that in the screen section you change the identifier line up in
the screen section to "Diamond Speedstar A50"
It should read Device "Diamond Speedstar A50"
This should get you on your way (or at least enough to help you on your
way, you will probably have to go back and change your resolutions.)
