Have you tried LyX or KLyX? They are pseudo word-processors that use
TeX/LaTeX as a backend. KLyX comes with Mandrake. For a Linux GUI frontend
to TeX/LaTeX, there is
http://ftp.iwd.uni-bremen.de/xtem/xtem_texmenu.html . It does not have
the KDE look and feel however.
