[newbie] Linux and Novell

I'm new to using linux and have my mandrake 5.3 box hooked up to a novell (netware 
4.x) network.  I would like to use my linux system as a novell client.  I went to 
caldera and downloaded the novell client but it doesn't seem to work.  How do I 
configure mandrake 5.3 to operate as a novell client and login to the nds tree?  Are 
there any special configurations that need to be set to run either ip or ipx across 
linux to the novell network?
