log in as root, and do
e2fsck /dev/hda3
If in doubt, answer any questions with "y".
Press Ctrl-D when it's run.
You should also update your kernel to 2.2.9-27mdk because it fixes a
problem that could under some bad circumstances lead to filesystem errors.
