Not having been able to resolve my problems with fetchmail and sendmail
I'm now trying to use procmail as my mta rather than sendmail.

I'm connecting using kppp to an isp which allocates dynamic IP addresses.
I have my ISP's two nameservers entered in my kppp set-up, but have
deselected the "disable local nameservers" option.

My /etc/resolv.conf file normally says "search localdomain"
My /etc/hosts file contains the line:

"127.0.0.1 britlinks.co.uk www.britlinks.co.uk britlinks localhost"

If my /etc/procmailrc file says:

0:
*^X-SMTP-Envelope: *.lists@
!james@localhost

for some reason the address is expanded to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and sent
to the mail queue where it is sent out of the machine by sendmail.

If I change it to say something like:

0:
*^X-SMTP-Envelope: *.lists@
/var/spool/mail/james

then that is delivered okay, providing I'm logged in as james. If I
deliver it to another user's mailbox, the mail arrives in the box, but
neither pine nor mail list it in their index of that mailbox.

Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong which is causing the
forwarding to go straight out of the machine?

Cheers. James.
