I'm not sure about this, however I use Kppp. I have a junky Atlas 56K modem
hooked up. I configured kppp to my internet connections. Then just "point
and CLICK" (he,he). My modem seems to work fine. Yet, I profess, I am not
an expert in this area. Someone else may have a better Idea of what is
wrong than me.
