To set up your modem, try kppp.  It's on your menu bar under internet I
believe.  Set up an account, provide the login in name, password, and ISP
phone number.  Set the appropriate port (ttyS0, or ttyS1, etc....) speed
(start with 115,200).  Be sure to edit /etc/resolv.conf by adding:
search <ISP name>
nameserver <dns # provided by your ISP>   If they give you two, do this twice.
 By querying the modem, you can find out if you've chosen the correct port. 
If you get no response, or modem not found, try another port (if you're not
sure what port you're on...)
