Hi I e-mailed this list the other day when I was having some problems loading a couple mp3 programs. At the time, I did not have the exact error message but I have it now. I just tried to load kWinttv to configure and use use my video camera and got the same errors as the other day. Here goes: cd kwintv-0.7.4# ./configure creating cache ./config.cache checking host system type... i 686-pc-linux-gnu checking target system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking whether build environment is sane... yes checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes checking for working aclocal... found checking for working autoconf... found checking for working automake... found checking for working autoheader... found checking for working makeinfo... found checking for C-Compiler... checking for gcc...gcc checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) works... yes checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) is a cross-compiler... no checking whether we are using GNU C... yes checking how to run C preprocessor... gcc -E checking for a C++-Compiler... checking for g++... g++ checking whether the C++ compiler (g++ -s) works... no configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler cannot create executables. What am I doing wrong? Am I running the command in the wrong folder? I am currently extracting the archive into a folder called video under root and then change the directory to kwintv-0.7.4 to issue the command. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance. P.S. Is there a way to capture the messages in a terminal window? I am not a very good typist. Thanks Jim
