hello, my head is truly spinning after spending a couple of days reading the modem howto, setserial, isapnp etc. and i seem no closer to an answer! this is a hardware modem and has worked on linux redhat and slackware. there was a reference to some 'peer' thing in mandrake user (what is it, where can i find it?)
bios says irq 3. setting on windows is irq 3, com 2, 02f8-02ff (same thing when pnp o/s is changed to no). mandrake has detected a modem, usr 56k voice ( it is all that and internal and isa pnp). when i went into the hardware section of control panel there was no kernel module. it configure it on irq 5, io 0210. i tested it and modprobe couldn't find the module. i'd appreciate any help, i spent 3 months trying to get this modem working before i had adsl, and unfortunately i can't reach the guy who got it working before. thanks.
