After much help from the list I got my network going at a simple level. Then I moved on, getting dns working. I reached the point where everything seemed to work at lan level, but I could only share my internet connection if I set the win98 machines to dynamic addressing, losing the network.
Now I have got dhcp working to the point where the win98 machines get dynamic addresses and can see the network (though I can't ping them, now - is that what you would expect?), but the ICS seems to have stopped working. Control Center says that the sharing is activated. I'm at a loss to know what to check next. I can't find much info about dhcp, ics or dial-on-demand. I suspect I need to set more things under webmin, but I can't find anything about those pages. Is there a full manual for webmin anywhere? I've Googled, and though I got many hits there was nothing very helpful in the first few pages of links - I gave up after that Anne
