Any how, just edit the /etc/inittab file and change the line:

id:5:initdefault:

to

id:3:initdefault:

logout and you should be on prompt!

If you got **really** locked into X, after the modification... reboot!

To return to X, as before, just eidt that line.... from 3 (console/text mode) 
to 5 (graphic mode).
