I was not able to setup a scanner for a UMAX Astra 1220U using the RPMS in Mandrake 9.0. I downloaded the tarballs: sane-backends-1.0.9-pre2.tar.gz and xsane-0.89.tar.gz You can locate these at: ftp://ftp.mostang.com/pub/sane/sane-1.0.9/ and ftp://ftp.mostang.com/pub/xsane/ respectively.
