Looking closer, the synthesis file it is trying to examine is for a source that no longer exists. Perhaps the question now is, How do I tell urpmi that these sources no longer exist and not to examine the synth files for these. I have already done the urpmi.removemedia ... on the sources and I have been able to get it to stop inspecting list files for these media. (was getting media ignored).
