With reference to this: MS is not in the business of making linux distros. There is not enough profit there for them and certainly there is nothing they can do to restrict the use of the product, except such proprietary software as they might provide with such a distro.
So don't expect to see a MS Linux distro. It is not unthinkable to us, but it is probably unthinkable to MS. IF they tried to make the entire GNU/linux distro proprietary or closed-source they would spend the next 50,000 years defending themselves in court from all the copyright violations. And I would be one of the plaintiffs. Remember, truly free software is copyrighted so that it can remain free. So far the only gross violation was with the ztorage scam that made networkable hard disks which turned out to have undocumented old linux kernel and Samba in an EPROM on the single-board computer in the box with the disk, and the poor saps who bought the Ztorage company and "IP" found themselves without a product as the sellers quietly vanished. Arcturus produces uClinux in ROMs on SIMM and DIMM computer/controller devices, but they supply the source and cross-compilers and a mix of free and proprietary product and definitely tell you which is which and where you can get the source for the free product, and that IS a valid profit-making use of free software, just as producing a linux distro is.
