Well, watch Mandrakeexpert for a while and their thinking will be revealed.

Basically, you should _not_ have two of those windows open at once because it
causes some real problems and the interlocks necessary to manage it properly
would cripple the application.

Yes, a single, tabbed, interface is possible and it should be considered for a
future "expert mode" button. For real newbies and the people who have to
support them, the separate interfaces are really labor-saving. If I am
helping someone with an "rpmdrake" problem, first I have to determine what
functionality he is using and lead him through the steps for that particular
functionality.

It is difficult over the phone to try to give instructions to someone in an
effort to reproduce the behavior and figure out what needs to be fixed if he
is tabbed to the wrong window. Four names and four icons simplifies that
situation.

And I still have no problem with the UI and getting information for each of
the functions.

Another option for the tab-top UI is to make it callable under another name
like rpmdrakexaphir. It should take only a couple hours working from the
python-gtk demo to do a tabbed screen that invokes each of the functions...
errr Python-GTK2 that is. If I am free this weekend, I will do it.
