It's rather strange that it would/should do this, but it would appear as
though some things need to be modified in order to have Konq eithe be
found a bit faster, or have Konq find it's dependencies a bit faster.
One thing that I ALWAYS do on EVERY system I get my grubbies on is to
make sure the following lines are in the /etc/profile:

KDEDIR='/usr'
export KDEDIR

..and as well, I modify my /etc/ld.so.conf file so that all possible
libs are in there and then re-run ldconfig to rebuild the cache
(example):

/usr/kerberos/lib
/usr/X11R6/lib
/usr/lib/qt2/lib
/usr/lib/sane
/usr/lib/qt-1.45/lib
/usr/lib/wine
/usr/lib/mysql
/usr/lib
/usr/local/lib
/usr/lib/qt-3.0.5/lib
/usr/local/java/lib
/usr/lib/qt3-gcc2.96/lib
/usr/local/lib/xine/plugins/1.0.0/post
/usr/lib/OpenOffice.org1.0/program
/usr/i386-glibc21-linux/lib/
/opt/quasar/firebird/lib
/opt/quasar/sybase/lib

And even moreso - since you're running KDE applications from withing
Blackbox, you might want to run "kdeinit" in the blackbox startup - this
initialises the KDE DCOP server and services; hence when you've got it
up and running already in the background as Blackbox is running, any KDE
application you fire up is going to fire up quickly and more smoothly.

Also check your menu files for Blackbox to make sure that the exec
entries are correct and not "wrapping" the executable with another
program...that's helpful.

Meanwhile, it's now Saturday, and y'all still in Friday, so I'll go
watch cartoons.
