hello all i have a question i need to set up a ftp server for friends/users and fix it to where all need a user name and password before they can log on to only there folders/files and not be able to see other users folders/files

Proftp normally configures itself - just make them users on your machine, put them in the same group as the home directory for the files you want to share with them, give that directory group read permissions, and you're up and running.
