It would appear that the system is not able to find the particular
partition that the init lives on (/boot) - so it could be that the
partition table is hosed up a bit.

Boot up with your CD1, and at the initial prompt, hit F1 to go into
EXPERT MODE, then do the LINUX RESCUE - I think y'all will be able to
get yer /boot partition back up shortly - but you may also want to force
an fsck on that partition JUST FOR GOOD MEASURE - because ya don't wanna
have a nice OS living on a dirty file system, ya reckon?
