It works just fine. You have to go to
ftp.soundblaster.com/pub/creative/beta/ and download 
emu10k1-0.3b.tar.gz.
For 2.2.9-19 use the module for version 2.2.5.  If you upgrade to
2.2.9-27 use the module for ver. 2.2.10
