if you boot up on the Winxp cd and choose recovery console, that will bring you to a dos prompt. you can then try chkdsk /r, fixboot or fixmbr. There is help on the web if you do a google search for unmountable boot volume that will bring up further help but the chkdsk /r worked for me.
