Nope, it first was using aRts sound server, i switched that to alsa and now i can actually see the trackbar in XMMS scrolling, which it wasn't doing previously (it was failing connecting to the aRts soundserver obviously).

But now, after all the modifications everyone in various forums/chat rooms told me to apply, Xine doesn't play audio anymore.

Someone find me a rope and a stool.

You appear to be using the alsa sound server, so install the xmms-alsa RPM and
select that as the output plugin in xmms>Options>Preferences
