Where is it in the SCSI chain? You may have to manually link
/dev/sdaX to /dev/cdrom to get it to work and then create an entry in
your FSTAB to get it to work.
Here's my CDROM entry for a SCSI cdrom:
/dev/cdrom              /mnt/cdrom              auto     
user,noauto,nosuid,exec,nodev,ro 0 0
