Just a guess. I don't see the interrupts for the serial ports in /proc/interrupts, so I would guess they are not in use. In the BIOS, knock out COM2 (DISABLE the On-BOARD DEVICE) I think your modem, if it is internal, was taking the interrupt your eth0 card grabbed. Leave interrupt 3 open by disabling the on-board COM2 and things might work better. Then again they might not The alternative is to search the mailing list archives for the proper use of a program called isapnpdump. Go to the (searchable) archives and check both newbie and expert with a search key of isapnpdump. The posts by Axalon are the ones to read first. He knows that of which he speaks.
