Sure it will, but it's trivial to use -o /tmp/toystory.avi instead of -o toystory.avi, provided of course there's enough room on /tmp. Besides, if the problem occurs very early on in the process, then it probably doesn't matter where the output goes. Also you probably want to start this all off with 'script' so you can save all the output of the session to a file.
