Does cpuinfo show the actual cpu MHz that the cpu is running at or does it only show what it is rated at ?

I ask because having installed an AMD 2400xp (2000MHz) FSB 266, I am unsure if I installed it correctly, the (Jetway) website has a table of cpu ratio jumper settings for a range of processors, for this one it says 15x alongside a FSB of 133 but the max range of jumper settings in the manual and on the website only goes to 12.5x. I know next to nothing about the subject so am unsure whether to go for 12.5x or is it simply a matter of :-
15 x 133 = 1995 so with a 266FSB should it be 2000/266 = 7.5 ?
To further confuse me the Bios has 2 settings for frequency settings 100 or 133MHz.

Output of cpuinfo :-

model name : AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2400+

If yours works the same way as mine, the rating of the cpu will be according to how you set the FSB in bios.
I'm guessing you cureently have FSB=100 which gives you a CPU 2008.623 MHz, if you set your FSB to 133 it will then change to show CPU 2400 MHz or there abouts. Your CPU might do more if your board would support FSB 266, or is it that your board can only do FSB=133 which gives a CPU MHz of 2008.623 , while if your board would support FSB 266 it would give the CPU MHz of 2400 it's full rating, I'm not sure, form your description, which way round it is.
