Perhaps, and this is just a guess, in 'Sorcery Linux' (new one to me...), there
is a global bashrc which is overriding your user's .bashrc.

Look at /etc/bashrc and see if it shows entries for what you are trying to
change, which is, I'm assuming, the colour of your bash prompt.
