I ended up re-creating the smb.conf from scratch; now I'm stuck with perms probs - but I reckon I'll figure that out; and yes, the ports are opened and yes I've checked the logs; it's frustrating when the logs aren't tell me anything. Also a bit peeved at the dang MCC plugin for setting up Samba as it ain't doing anything other than sitting there. stephen kuhn - proprietor __________________________________________________________________ illawarra computer services :: a kuhn media australia venture http://kma.0catch.com :: mobile 0410.728.389 Serving Sydney, The Illawarra, South Coast and Rural NSW __________________________________________________________________ * This message was composed on a 100% Microsoft free computer * We expressly refuse to utilise Microsoft DRM encoded documents __________________________________________________________________ Certified virus-free since we don't use Microsoft products 'You know the worst of it?' said Rincewind.
