When you defined your interface there was a checkbox to get the hostname through dhcp. To get rid of it edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 (or whatever your interface is called) and remove the line :- NEEDHOSTNAME derek -- www.jennings.homelinux.net http://twiki.mdklinuxfaq.org
