I wouldn't give up so soon. I run 10.1CE on a P3 500MHz machine with 256Mb of RAM, and on a P3 900Mhz machine with 128Mb RAM with no problems. If your graphics card is giving you trouble, then install the system in "text" mode. You can always fiddle around with the X settings later.
