I've seen a lot about this changing ID - and experienced it.  I'm fairly 
certain that I read that it's a kernel bug, sorted in the latest versions, 
but I can't remember which version number.  If it's the 2.6.8 kernels I think 
there are other issues cropping up.  I'll live with the situation for the 
moment, until I know more about what's happening.
