Here's what I did: 

1. Open the url you want as your home page (I think this technique would even 
allow you to have multiple urls in separate tabs, though I haven't tried it).

2. Resize the window to the size you want saved, if you don't like the default 
size (I found it too small for many of the web sites I visit).

3. Go to menu item Settings > Save view profile "webbrowsing"...

4. In the dialog, ensure that "Save URLs in profile" is checked. Also, if you 
did step #2 above, ensure that "Save window size in profile" is checked. 
Don't change the default selection of the "webbrowsing" profile.

5. Click the Save button.

The next time you open Konqueror as a web browser, you'll see the url(s) you 
saved, with the window size you want.

You can also change the "filemanagement" profile to save changes to the use of 
konqueror as a file manager (what you get when you open the Home desktop 
icon). And you can create custom profiles if you want, for different 
purposes. It's a pretty nice piece of semi-hidden functionality.
