Looking at the script, it will work without gcc. It just can not fill in
part of the information. But you do have a problem. The script is
designed to be run on a Linux partition, and not a Windows partition. So
it may not have created the modem directory, and the files under it. You
can see if you have a modem directory in your home directory. If so, it
will have a bunch of files you should read.
