The source ftp://ftp.free.fr/pub/Distributions_Linux/plf/mandrake/10.1/ is
currently responding, and the command syntax you used is good, so that may
have been a temporary issue with that source. There are not many plf mirrors,
and some of the few there are, are not very good. Personally I find
ftp://ftp.club-internet.fr/pub/linux/plf/mandrake/10.1 very reliable.
If you cannot connect to any source, then you may be behind an ftp proxy
server, and would have configure urpmi to use a proxy using the media
management GUI in MandrakeControl Centre>Software.

It looks like my DSL router is definitely the culprit, as I can browse
FTP sites but adding the media still doesn't work. If anyone has any
xperience with SpeedStream DSL devices, give me a holler, otherwise I'll
be donig some manual reading for a bit |-(.
