[newbie] login in to shell as default

Sorry for such a basic question - but I installed Mandrake 10.1 last night on a server I'm setting up, and I wanted it to default to the shell, rather than KDE, on boot. I can't seem to figure out how to bypass the very pretty, but unnessary, to even get it to just the shell.
