Connected directly via a usb > ps2 adapter.  Moving the cord makes no 
difference, the only mouse defined in XF86config is:

Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Mouse1"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
    Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"

Hasn't done it in awhile now,  can't say its stopped though.
