Sorry it is long.  I had the camera plugged in and turned on.

This was from "gphoto --auto-detect -debug, and actually was a very long 
series of numbers and names.  I've just copied a part of it, assuming it was 
checking a number of different cameras.

0.307432 gphoto2-port(0): Could not find USB device (vendor 0xd64, product 
0x1001). Make sure this device is connected to the computer.
0.307710 gphoto2-port(0): Could not find USB device (class 0x6, subclass 
0xffffffff, protocol 0xffffffff). Make sure this device is connected to the 
computer.
0.307977 gphoto2-port(2): Freeing port...
0.308144 gphoto2-port(2): Closing port...
