Meanwhile, let's see if we can help. Is this a stand-alone drive? Or an additional one? I presume it's additional, since you talk of the secondary IDE controller. At what point do you see this message? Immediately on switch-on, or during boot into Mandrake (or other distro)? Does your BIOS see the drive? How is it cabled - Master, Slave or Cable Select? If it's CS - where on the cable is it located? It is an 80-wire cable, is it? CS doesn't work properly on 4-wire cables as far as I know. If it's M/S - have you checked the jumpers?
