... very entertaining, I was taken in totally, because as a month old newbie I went through that phase ... bought some Mandrake 10.1 disks ($6), they worked OK at first, but then degraded ... ended up with:
(1) .. an old Mandrake Red Hat 6.0 that works on my desktop .. (2) .. a SUSE 9.2 working in VMWare on my laptop ... ended up downloading the 3.3gig .iso file, turns out VMWare can read the .iso file right off my hard drive, don't have to fool with burning CD's etc .. (3) ... the struggle getting from command mode to KDE in (1) above really taught me the Linux (UNIX) fundamentals, plus reading your wonderful mailing list each day ... (4) .. once you get into KDE, everything's a breeze ...
