I configured Mandrake 6.1 with a user account as it asks at the end of the configuration. However, when I log in as the user and run startx, all I getis the gray screen with the X curser. I hit ctrl/alt/bkspace and the console says, can't write to /home/.Xauthority. I tried a chmod 755 to change the write flag on all the .X configs but that doesn't work. Any suggestions? I've spent hours reading searchlinux.com suggestions on this to no avail. Thanks.
