I can't remember how it's performed precisely, but I seem to recall it being discussed many years ago when I was having a brilliant time trying to install Slakware. Basically, NEVER EVER defrag a mounted system! I'll go and try to dig up some of my notes for the period.... Is there any regular maintaince that needs to be done to a linux box like in Windows with defrag, scandisk, etc? I know that defragging in Windows can speed up a system quite a bit, and I had never heard of anything like defragging in Linux, which is why I was wondering if you even have to do it. And if so, how exactly would you do it? -- Anthony Huereca http://m3000.1wh.com Press any key to continue and any other key to quit
