Hi :-)

I'm looking for help on setting my ATI Rage 128 AGP 32MB card in
Mandrake.

My system is AMD k6-2 450Mhz ,128MB , Rage 128 AGP ,2x13GB HDDs ext 56k
modem,miro DC10plus.Monitor 17'' Amaga that does 1024x768 @ 87Hz
,800x600@100Hz

Well let get to the point.I can't get this thing work properly in any
of Linux distrs I own (Debian 3 ,Red Hat's 4.0 ,5.0,5.1 Suse's 6.0 ,6.2
Mandrake 7.0 and a few other I bother mention noe .Beleive this or not
, I have tried all of these in the past...thats what my Linux
experience is...also having read an excellent book (Using Linux Special
Edition)....

And last night I tried to install the "monster" to make it work with
Mandrake. No bonus. What I get is a stuck system ,or in the best case a
60hz 800x600@8bit color.Now if THATS what Rage support means.Anyway...

Questions

1.Is there something I miss ? Do I need to select a specific Server (in
case Drak doesn't recognis! e the hardware properly)

2.K info panel shows me an amazing 3.3.FIVE X server...but the CD is
labelled Mandrake Linux 7.0.I thought there should be included X 3.3.6
!!!

3.X free site doesnt refers to "Rage" server. They are talking about
mach64 server in 3.3.6 that supports Rage 128

4.Whats going on with programmable chip ? Is there anything like this
to my card ?

5.How about the clocks ? Mysterious world isnt't it ?

Why is SO difficult to write an extensive guide on this ? I've already
check the Linux Documentation Project.AND my books.AND the FAQs

The best results with mandrake 7 is an 800x600@60Hz/256 colors.I won't
get blind by using my screen in such a refresh rate...so please help.

Another note : I'm currently setting up dialup Remote Access into my
works network.Thought a Linux server would be cool so I've tried a few
minutes ago find related information....but no luck.

{Question : would YOU! recomend an OS that you can't install properly at
home to your boss for Remote Access ?}

Any help will be greatly aprpreciated :-)
