Roger,
When you install in expert mode, you have to make sure that you install all
the Window Managers (I think that's the term),when it gives you that list of
packages you want to install.
This happened to me also. The easiest way I found to correct this, was to
pop the CD back in, go through the installation process again and do an
Upgrade,instead of an install (make sure that you've still selected the
expert mode and either normal or development for the type of install).
It won't change any of your partitions,
but it will allow you to add more packages.
When you get to that stage, just uncheck each (+) to see what's there, and
select which packages you want/need. I think it's called "xwindow manager"
or something like that.
